Nigeria Rising Star Xzel Freeman

D man weezy

The Nigerian music scene has welcomed many new artistes in recent months. While many of them are still struggling to make an impression, a handful of them had us putting their songs on repeat.
Everyone wants to ‘blow’ so to speak, but before this happens these creative minds spend years under the surface grinding and improving their craft until it gets to a point where the listeners fall in love with it.
Some of these promising acts are already popular but not quite ‘blown’, others may not have registered a huge impression but they are definitely talented enough to be with the big stars and with all the right things falling in place, they may become shinning stars too.
Xzel Freeman’s output in the music industry has not gone unnoticed, but like most stars he is yearning for more.

Chukwunonyelu Henry is one bright and breezy fellow. A first encounter with him, one would wonder if they were with the right artiste. A down to earth, charming and ever-smiling artiste who hails from Anambra state is doing much wonders in the entertainment industry.
Like most artistes, the love for music birthed his current endeavours in the realm and his hard work and dedication has paid off. The act who wanted to be a Statistician initially, started music professionally in the year 2008. His new track “Cry No More”, is gaining massive airplay. According to him, “Life experiences inspired me to make music and believes his  new track will elevate minds and build successful youths for betterment of his dear Country ‘Nigeria'”.

The inability to balance intellectual lyrics and sound has blown a hole in many efforts. This has left music audiences listening to catchy noise rather than profound music. Xzel does not have any fears about failing though. His nerves of steel only trigger a long pause before he answers my next question on the dismal tunes and catchy words littering the music scene and the changes he would love to make in the music industry.
“You can infuse those things with intellectual content and still it appealing to people,” the Anambra Talent Hunt 2013  Second Runner-up argues. If you know you are going to make music and stop on the way just leave it. I would change the way people see celebrities and see them as very normal people and do not expect too much from us”.

He tells me his eventual salvo of tracks will be unique due to his painstaking attention to lyrics. This attention to detail comes from his role models Kendrick Lamar, D Game, Ludacris, Busta Rymes, Bruno Mars, Usher Raymond, Justin Bieber, 2face, Phyno, Davido, Wizkid and Flavour whose tracks remain evergreen.
On when we should be expecting his album, he replied,  more singles to be released before an album and my fans should expect “NDO”, come October 1st.

The act that sees himself in a white Lamborghini in the next two years is very passionate about his family and music, “I am very passionate about music, it is something I do and I never get tired of doing it. Same goes for my family. My mum can call me 100 times a day and I never get tired of picking her call”.
On the issues of his fans he promises never to let them down, “(cracks a joke) there is no fan in this house na, the fans are in the room and I keep them safe. I try to know what they want and I promise not to disappoint them and I will always give them what they want”.
The act who loves wristwatches dearly, says “fashion is just being you and putting on that thing that makes you elegant and comfortable”. He advises upcoming artistes to never give up as the sky is their beginning, in his words, “If you are an upcoming artistes make sure what you are doing is talent, work very hard, always see yourself as the best. Do not allow anything come in between you and stardom. Always believe you can get there”.
